I live in CPT Northern Suburbs, so closest fertility specialist to me is Dr Dawie Slabbert (in the building next to Panorama Medi-clinic). And after many years knowing him, I can certainly recommend him. He is very knowledgeable and cares for his patients. Just as I fell pregnant with my little girl, he moved into the Panorama Healthcare Centre so that he could expand his practice to offer a full fertility clinic (which is really great as you don't have to book into Medi-clinic for certain procedures, which I had to do a lot).
I'm also aware of Aevitas Fertility Clinic in Pinelands (went there in 2014 for my husband's sperm check, but can now be done by Dr Slabbert's clinic), as well as Cape Fertility Clinic in Claremont (no personal experience with them). Then there's also Dr Lizette White from Stellenbosch that I met once when she was filling in for Dr Slabbert. She's really caring and great to deal with.
Also, if you have to go for scans frequently (like for IUI and IVF), it helps when you pick someone that is closer to home, because the traveling can get a lot and is time consuming if you also have a full time job to consider.
Hope this helps you in any way. You are definitely not alone - there are a lot of people out there that don't speak about it. Only when I mention something, do people open up about there own struggles. Perhaps why forums are a great place to speak to others that understand.
You are welcome to ask me anything if you need more info, even if just for emotional support.

We tried for 6 years to fall pregnant with our second baby. I'd really recommend that you see a fertility specialist and not just a normal gynae. I can give some recommendations if you are in Cape Town.
