mmm...thanks lata...Ja, I think if one is up to speed with all her suggestions in her book, I doubt she is going to mention something that is going to magically make your child sleep.

I did see her... to me she was no help at all. I read the babysense book i followed it but my child wtill would not sleep. She made us buy the Florix magnesium and iron to give to the baby. Still it did not work. For me it was money wasted really and truly :(

I have now used the supernanny controlled crying technique and for 2 weeks now i get to sleep the whole night every night :)

thanks for all the suggestions.

I haven't taken her to a pead for a checkup, It's on my to-do-list, right after "removing my wisdom tooth" :)

Sr. Anne Richardson wrote back. For those interested in a sleep consultation, it is R500 and she is based in JHB, Lonehill.

I don't know yet if it will be R500 wasted, because she just might tell me, accept the fact that she isn't sleeping in the day anymore!
Whoop whoop..... Defnitely a gamble.

It sounds as if you have really great ideas. Dylan slept better during the day once he was at daycare.

There is nothing wrong with giving a small dose of neurofen if lo is teething but the problem is giving it every night. Apparently you get really good homeopathinc teething remedies. You may want to try it.

If lo is really having a bad time at night and hasn't been seen by a doc it may be time. Dylan started waking at night and I thought it was teeth. Turns out he had an ear infection which gave no other symptoms.

Apparently the teething bead necklaces really do work!!!!

I also rub pansoral gel on Dylans gums and it makes a difference.

good luck. x

Julz, you probably have a point there.

She has always been a good sleeper at night from birth, untill she started teething at 11 months. She has been teething constantly for the past 4 months and the night time has become a battle, although she wakes up from pain (I think so) and not for other reasons. I think the night time wakings is just too much too handle for me because she isn't taking a day nap either.

With the nighttime wakings, she still sleeps about 12 hours per night.

One of the culprits for the sabotage of the daytime nap is a dirty nappy just a while after I have put her into her cot for the nap.
I have tried moving her breakfast even earlier with the hope that the morning nappy will happen before the daytime nap, but it hasn't made a big difference.

I am also looking for a playgroup for the mornings, since I suspect it could be a lack of stimulation.

Jems that is totally awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gloeiwurmpie I saw her when she was in CT. It was 500.00 for the hours consult. It seems Dylan is really normal so possibly a waste but it is always nice to have an expert tell you your child is normal.

I recon some kids don't sleep during the day even at that age but she may be able to give you tips .

Is your lo sleeping through the night? I think this is most important for our sanity and the day sleeps are a bonus, but that is just me being opinionated and jealous of moms whose kids sleep at night.
