IVF for the 1st time was created by Jinx
Hi Everyone

My husband and I are trying IVF for this first time this month......through Vitalab in JHB.
We tried to fall pregnant for more than a year but its unexplained fertility I guess.
My HSG was clear and the hubby's test are all clear.

Am hoping to meet some IVF buddies to go through this journey together. Its pretty lonely
Im scared an excited at the same time. Had a horrible HSG experience so hoping this wont be that bad !

Hi Chanti

I started with IVF last week. Had to start injecting myself at home which is a nightmare for me each morning.

How are you doing? When do you start IVF ?

Sorry to hear about your tubes being blocked but at least there's a way forward.

@Jinx - im going on to Visanne for the next 3 months to halt my endo as I have just had a lap done to remove quite a bit. Need to first save up before we can start. What sort of costs do we look at? About 70k?

@ Chanti

To be honest, the clinic I'm with (Vitalab) is very expensive.
So, if this doesn't work the first time, not sure if we can afford a second try.

Well, we paid in approx. R43 000 last week.
Then went to Dischem for the Menopur and Cetrocide injections and that was around R9 000.

So I think around 50K......lets hope.

@Jinx - at the moment we can't even afford one try so I feel ur pain! I have been reading up on the costs and it all gets so confusing... I suppose the best will be to have a consult with a FS and get a quote on our specific case.

@Chanti

I agree, try to meet with the FS first. I think the consult at Vitalab is R1500.
Maybe theres another option they can offer you besides IVF.
They are very clued up.
I also think they offer a payment plan if you still want to go the IVF route.
Worth a try :)
