My LB is 12 weeks old and I am returning to work soon. I have breastfed exclusively for the past 12 weeks. I have tried the past week to introduce him to the bottle. I have tried to replace only one feed a day with the bottle but with no luck. He just refuses. He uses a NUK dummy and has no problem with it but as soon as I put the NUK teat and bottle in his mouth he screams. Should I try a different brand or just stick with the NUK?
I'm pregnant with my 2nd one & will also be trying to breastfeed exclusively until I have to go back to work & then express my milk. My lg was a formula baby so I have no idea how this lo is going to be with breast & then to go over to bottle.
I know they say you need to try a few different brands cause even formula fed babies prefer certain bottles above others
You can maybe try tommee tippee or playtex brands. They say those brands works similar to breastfeeding principle
I breastfed my daughter exclusively for the first 4 months and then expressed when I returned to work, so my mom could feed her with a bottle.
Paige also refused the bottle, I did the same as you and tried to get her to take a bottle a day so I knew she wouldn't starve when I went back to work, she also refused, I tried all different brands of bottles she hated them so eventually I just decided to stick with Nuk- But I eventually moved her onto Tommy Tippee at about 9 months and she loved the Nuk and tommy Tippee- I prefer Tommy Tippee bottles to Nuk, I always lost the discs and they leak.
my mom couldn't get her to drink when I went back to work, but after 2 days of refusing (or drinking minimal amounts) with my mom, she realized it was bottle or nothing else and deiced to take the bottle, In the first few days there was no feeding schedule my mom just offered her milk throughout the day and eventually she started taking a bottle every 3 hours or so.
Maybe keep trying the bottle, but eventually if your baby is hungry he will take the bottle.
I did the same with my LG when i went back to work and she took to the Avent bottle quite well... Never had any problems and also only introduced the bottle for the first time at 12 weeks - to prepare her for my leave coming to an end....
Hoping to have the same luck this time around!
And i used the Avent Electric Pump... Loved that i pumped straight into the storage holders, and then one could screw the teat onto that same holder with a special attachment... that way there was minimal handling of the milk and less chance of bacteria being introduced...
