Rikki, may I ask what does the medical procedure entail of obtaining the egg from the donor?

Lucy, sadly yes the paper work is as scary as all hell! But well worth it at the end of the day.
Your friends best bet would be to go to her clinic and ask to be put on a list for a surrogate.
Or they can contact www.surrogacy.co.za/ to try find a surroage.
Sadly they are few and far between, and the new laws about it in SA make it even harder to get a surrogate, which is why most people turn to family or friends.

Alternatively they can go to India and have the procedure done there - it would cost around R250k - flights and accomodation excluded.
But that is about what it would cost in SA as well.
The laws in India are not as strict as they are here and there are tons of women there wanting to be surrogates because they can earn some money - sad, but that is the way it is.

Hey Missesmom

Well done on your good work!! I didn't realise that you had been a surrogate too. My question is how do you go about finding a surrogate?
A friend of mine has had 4 failed IVF's and recently decided to go the surrogacy route. The lady pulled out at the last minute as she didn't feel like all the paper work!! They are so dissapointed. The potential surrogate was someone they knew so I was wondering if there are agency's or a register of sorts of ladies willing to do this.
