Hello Mommies

Seeing the nappies in real life compared to online makes a massive difference and makes understanding them much easier.
I found an idea from the fb page to buy fleece pants and customise them into covers by cutting the legs and sewing the thighs part. Lets hope that helps.
I must say starting this journey is exciting and daunting all together. Lets hope it works well.

Nels, that's a nice idea.
fleece work very well as a cover

Cloth is indeed very exciting. the daunting part fades away very quickly though

Thats nice Stella, Gloie you fortunate if you know how to sew. Last time I sowed something was years ago in highschool. Maybe what you can do is go to pep and buy their towelling nappy as its cheap and get one of their fleece pants and try make a cover and your own custom aio with a microfibre and bamboo insert inside the towelling , you can get those microfibre and bamboo large dish cloths from PnP , Makro or Checkers. Then test the wetness with water and see how it goes.

if you want to try your hand at sewing join the Lappie Love facebook page. alot of helpful hints and alot of free patterns in the file section for all sorts of stuff.
its not so hard to make them. the first one will take a while, but once you get the hang of it, there is just no stopping :tmi:

i'm now making a few newborn ones - my 2nd attempt at neppy making and they look much more professional - see photo
and i also made my lb a few

I use three different makes : Close Pop-ins - bamboo inner, quite absorbent, easy to use (Velcro fastener) but expensive and take long to dry, which makes life tricky if they're the only ones you have. The next make I have are by Flip (Realnappyco), I think are the most absorbent, the inner is artificial but works really really well. The nice thing about Flips is that you only need a couple of outer shells and then a bunch of inners. One downside is they're quite bulky. Lastly, Fancypants, a local nappy - they fit the best but aren't as absorbent as the flips. Their inners are 70% bamboo and 30% cotton. I'd say I use 50/50 disposables and cloth and use flushable bamboo liners with all of them. I feel guilty every time I throw a disposable away but damn, they're convenient sometimes!
