Ok that's interesting. I had a c section yes. Was prolonged labour, failure to progress, his position to decend was bad.

My boy also pukes up a bit when I burp him. The choking has stopped since I do the laid back feeding. So glad about that.

Will chat to hubby about the chiropractor. I am in cape town southern suburbs area. Recommendations?

Will try some things and if nothing improves, I'll take him to the doc.

Thanks ladies. X

Hi Faffymom

Big hugs to you, it is so hard to see your baby crying in pain

My LG had silent reflux, the milk would come up, and I would actually see it in her mouth and go back down again. The first few months was very difficult and so frustrating when you just want to make your LO feel better.

I cut out dairy, and it did make a big difference, there seem to be a definite link between dairy and reflux. As Blessedmom said, there is dairy on so many things. You will probably have to become a label reader to look for hidden dairy.

We also gave Reuterina Pro-biotic drops, our Pead suggested that as it helps mature the gut. It takes a few weeks to kick-in though. Our Pead then prescribed Nexium, which really helped her a lot. Nexium is quite serious medication for a baby and should not be given lightly though.

We took our LG to the Chiro as well, she seemed to enjoy it.

Hoping your babs gets some relief soon

You can definitely try and cut dairy out but dairy is hidden in a lot of products but start with the obvious - milk, cheese, yogurt for at least 2 weeks to start seeing a difference.

Iberogast & Bonnisan is very good!

You had a csection right?

As your child is being born, the neck and back vertebrae can go out of alignment due to the stretching and compressing of the body as it emerges into the world. If your delivery included a prolonged pushing stage, forceps or vacuum extraction, or other form of assisted delivery, the chances of a misalignment are great.

If the misalignments, called vertebral subluxations, are big enough, the functioning of major systems in the body can be compromised. The digestive system can be affected and ineffective digestion of breastmilk and formula can cause major discomfort in your baby, leading to colic episodes.

The adjustments that a chiropractor will do on your baby is basically applying gently pressure with the finger to areas on the neck and back. You may see your baby totally relax before your eyes as the misalignments are corrected.

Chiro can help with reflux, colic and so much more. Each baby is different but it's worth a try. Like I said, I know a chiro who specializes in this and has been on many talk shows.

He is in Blairgowrie. Dr Mike Marinus

Yes I do have fast let down. I am starting to feed him lying back now. It seems to help with choking.
There are just so many products, it's crazy. Just wish I knew what would help him.
How would anyone chiropractor be able to fix colic?
Will maybe just cut out milk products for now and see if it helps. I am terrible at burping him. Have to get better at it.

This is very difficult to keep myself hydrated and well fed and keep happy and positive for breastfeeding, when my baby is awake all day and in pain for hours after feeding. :S

Hi Faffymum

So sorry that your lb is suffering so much. The cramping and indigestion might be from your strong letdown. Does he chock a bit with every feed or do you find that he has to try and keep up with the milk flow in the beginning?

Your diet shouldn't really play a role in the cramping but some babies do tend to be sensitive to something in our diet.

I would personally first suggest chiropractor for the cramping and reflux. Where are you based? I know a wonderful chiro who specialises in infant colic.

I would leave the bennets completely. You can try iberogast 3 times a day before feeds, good probiotic for the gut and Bonisan. They are all natural products as safer for baby. The gut takes about 4months to mature.

Also google colic infant massage to help pass the gas. Babies need to be burped as much as possible to try and avoid the wind to go down into the intestines cause that is what causes havoc.

Faffymum, big hug to you. really hoping that its not reflux.

for your breasts, go for laser therapy at a fisio - that saved my breastfeeding journey.

for cramps the only thing that worked for my lb was sister lillian colic care (get at dischem). its a tablet. you can give him a half a tablet with each feed.
just crush it into a powder and smear in his mouth. and it worked very fast for my lb.

or you can also give him Behoedmiddel ( a Lennons product) this worked very well for a friend of mine's lb

Not sure if anyone can help. My baby boy is suffering from either colic or reflux or indigestion or all of these. He battles to sleep and cramps and whines in pain all day. Especially after a feed. He doesn want to drink very much and his times are becoming all over the place. My poor breasts don't know what's going on. Anyways, so I got him Bennett colic mixture, suggested by the nurse at dischem. Used it a bit but I feel like it just knocks him out.it has a lot of alcohol in it. So instead I got pro biotic and colief colic drops. My question, has anyone used these? Also the colic drop is a lactase enzyme that should be aadministered by mixing with breastmilk but it's such a mission to express before every feed. We are only 3 weeks this Sunday so I am not so keen to express yet. Wonder if I can just pop it in his mouth? I'll maybe call the doctor and see. Any thoughts?

How can the world be so cruel to babies so young. Breaks my heart to see him in pain
