This is a post for all cloth nappy Mommies.

I have taken the plunge and bought a few Mother Nature Cloth nappies to test before I buy a full set. My LB is 15 months so can you beleive I am only doing this now?? What I want to know from other Mommies is the following:

How often do you change your baby

Are your babies Clothes always wet even when you use the waterproof.

Do you use them at night and if so, what extra precautions do you take?

How many nappies do you have?

How often do you wash

How long do yours take to dry in the Winter?

What is your system (i.e buckets and storing for washing)

at this stage I can't think of anything else to ask so if you have any extra tips please let me have them too?

I am unfortunately not able to answer, just curious as to what made you use cloth nappies? :)

Financial mostly but also the whole Green Aspect. I already recyle and use a Biowashball and other Green cleaning products.

Thanks for answering, I dont think I'll have the patience but it's for a good cause and something to really consider. When N was born I had 2 of those Eco Nappies and they are really pretty but I ended up giving them away just couldn't get myself to do it. Will be a huge saving though.

Hi 2kidmamma

Well, im also going to be using cloth nappies. Its my personal choice and people have tried discouraging me but its my baby and i`ll do what i feel like doing with her. Its like breastfeeding & bottle feeding. I`ll be doing it because i feel thats what i can afford & will be breastfeeding too as it is free!

So i already bought 4 waterproofs, 4 snappy fasteners, loads of nappy liners and im planning on starting with 20 nappies. We`ll see how far they take us ;)

The other ladies advised that they use 7 nappies a day and wash atleast after 3 days (depending on the number of nappies you have).

For more info, just search for "who will be using cloth nappies" thread. Good luck!

2kidmamma, congrats on taking the leap!

I didn't have Mother Nature, I use Bambino Mio but here's my answers to your questions.

I change my baby every 4 hours during the day.

No, she's never wet, sometimes a bit wet if I didn't put it on right or if I go past 4 hours (my own fault then!)

I used them at night but I doubled the insert so she would stay dry for 12 hours (on most days, there were bad days)

I have 24 inserts and 3 covers per size

I washed every 4 - 5 days

In the winter it takes about 24 hours to dry if hung outside or inside but on a nice sunshine day in summer it takes 1 hour and about 3 for a winters day

I have a bucket in which I just pop the inserts when wet or dirty and they stay in the bucket with no extra water or anything till wash day.

Some other questions I thought you could use.
I use cheap nappy liners and flush them after a poo or rewash and use over and over if it was just pee.
I also use cheap (R3.50) dark blue face clothes to clean her bum with, saves on wipes and I just wash them with the nappies
I use bumcream only when her bum looks a little pink but for the most part I use nothing else on her except water to clean and we didn't have a rash until I got lazy and used more disposables

That's all I can think of now and B is awake but scream if you need more help!
