Hi Everyone

I am a proud father to be of Twins, due in February 2019 however I am pulling my hair out trying to decide which would be the most practical twin tandem stroller to buy. For anyone who has been through this journey, please share your experience.

Morning!

I am expecting twins in Feb as well. CONGRATS!!

We got a Double Trouble  double-trouble.co.za/product/essential-d...-twin-travel-system/

We found it secondhand. It's very difficult to find secondhand though. Isofix bases is key! Don't bother with the seatbelt one. This is the most practical system as you can clip the car seats into the pram, and the pram folds nice and small. The side by side one is way too bulky.

Let me know if you need anything! I am just learning too. It is a lot to take in!

Hi Cands0490

Thank you for the input. I had a look at the double trouble pram and it seems to be the most obvious choice for now however the car seat will last for about 8 months only after which we will need to get a bigger one and the pram itself will only last for 18 months (due to the weight of the kids) at which point we will also need to get another one.

I was hoping there would be an all-in-one solution whereby the pram would be usable up to a few years.

The car seat will last 12 - 15 months. Most twin moms I know don't use the pram after 18 months anyways :) So we will have to get new seats once babies grow out of the initial ones. But the bases will last.

An all-in-one solution is a bit difficult since the bigger ones will be too big for babies and the smaller one will need to be replaced. There are probably side by side ones or more expensive ones like double trouble. Mama Magic is coming up and all the prams should be there. Can ask them what they think :)

Replied by Bea on topic Twins . . And what pram to buy
We bought the Double Trouble system - we only used it the first couple of months. The car seats and bases were great, but as soon as the twins grew out of the car seats, which in our case was around 13 months (and they were born three months prem, so 10 months corrected age), the Double Trouble no longer worked for us - the toddler seats aren’t comfortable and the pram just became too big. We sold it and were lucky to get a good price (bought for R22000 and sold for R15000). We then bought a MacLaren Twin Techno stroller, which was much better - small, easy to fold up and it can also recline, so great for nap time. We also bought other car seats off course.

My twins are turning 2 on Sunday and we don’t use the stroller that often. When we go for walks we rather put them in their push tricycles, which they love.

My advise would be to buy second hand where possible, because you use it for such a short period only.
