Hello - I have been experiencing sharp pains in my left breast only, for about 3 months. I have been to my GP who gave me some pain killers and told me to come back if it does persist and he will arrange a scan. I have not yet been back, I am just prolonging it.
I have noticed that the left breast is bigger than the right. Is that normal? The pain last for about 15 - 20 min then stops and starts again, afew hours later, during the day. Sometimes I take adcodol for it, and it seems to help.
The pain is now more frequent during the day. And I have noticed now, that the left breast is def bigger than the right.
Any help or advice on whats the cause?
Sorry for butting in but that happened to me also last year except i didn't have breast enlargement. I went to my GP and had a breast exam to rule out any lumps and then I was treated for a pulled muscle and inflamation of the breast tissue. (Don't ask me how it happened, I don't know) it was a sharp burning pain and came on if I moved suddenly and lasted for a few minutes. My breast was also sore to the touch for some time. If your breast is differing in size to the other and their is pain then I wouldn't hesitate for a second opinion.
Breast pain, called mastodenia or mastalgia is usually quite benign, although difficult to treat. The visual enlargement over time is abnormal, though. May I ask how old you are and if you take exogenous hormones or other medication?
