Simone, my gp refered met to a Chirurg/Spec surgeon in Pretoria,
As Dr Juan said: T3 was never tested as everybody says its not neccessary. I didnt ask why because they are the medical experts.

Do anybody know of a endocrinologist?

FRCS = Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons
As best I can tell, LKC/FCS = Kardiotorakschirurgie / Cardiothoracic Surgery

So that would mean he's most likely a heart surgeon and not an endocrinologist

Just googled endocrinologists in pretoria and came up with these:

Gauteng Metabolic and Endocrine Research Centre
7 York Road, Johannesburg 2193
011 717 2616 ‎

Interesting site that lists lots of doctors:
www.thyroid-info.com/topdrs/southafrica.htm

Dr. H Oosthuizen
Netcare Pretoria East Hospital, Corner of
Garsfontein & Netcare Roads
Pretoria, Gauteng 1
(012) 998-8675
(endocrinologist / diabetes specialist)

Perhaps you can find an endocrinologist in one of those? I would definitely recommend you go for a second opinion with a proper endocrinologist.

Strikkie for me the Endo is the way to go! I have PCOS and the over active thyroid (doing bloods today and seeing him tomorrow again)...he asked me at last appointment...what is the thing I want to work on the most? The Pcos, fertility, there was a 3rd thing but I cant remember. So I said the PCOS side effects (acne, hair growth, etc) and he gave me meds for that...and when I am ready/worried about fertility, we will get into that and treatment if necessary.

The consult is also a full 30min - 1hr...he checks absolutely EVERYTHING when I am there. Okay its R500 a pop, cash:-( BUT money well spent.

He monitored me all through pregnancy, liased with my gynae every month after my appointment. Made sure paed knew to test Addison as soon as she was born. He checked her blood results when i went to see him after the birth (when my paed was already handling it)....its just a full service and I know without him my pregnancy could have gone seriously wrong.

I pray you find that kind of doctor. I will ask him tomorrow for a recommendation in the Pretoria area if you want me to? MAYBE he knows of somebody?

Huggles you really are a star for looking up that info for Strikkie;-)
